Porcine practice: Marked increase in performance after ileitis injection

Driffield (aho) – Since the pan-European launch of the ileitis vaccine “Enterisol® Ileitis” (Boehringer) from September to November 2005, the oral ileitis vaccine has very quickly become firmly established in health maintenance and performance enhancement in pig production.  According to the international journal “International Pig Topics”, produced in the British town of Driffield, the vaccine not only prevents the disease and reduces the number of animals lost.  It also increases daily weight gain while improving uniformity within the fattening herds.  The fatteners can be sold earlier and in larger numbers. Field studies in Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland confirm the increase in daily weight gain during fattening from 30 to 74 g.
