Fleisch aus Petrischale: Wiesenhof-Chef fordert Freigabe in Europa
„EU droht Anschluss zu verlieren“ – Wesjohann kann sich Bau von Fabrik vorstellen
Osnabrück (ots) – Wiesenhof-Chef Peter Wesjohann fordert von der EU, den Verkauf von Fleisch aus der Petrischale freizugeben. Wesjohann sagte im Gespräch mit der „Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung“: „Wenn da nicht etwas mehr Tempo gemacht wird in Brüssel, wird es am Ende so sein, dass die Genehmigung in den USA und in Asien vorliegt zum Verkauf und wir hier in Europa mal wieder zu spät dran sind.“ Der Wiesenhof-Mutterkonzern PHW ist an dem israelischen Unternehmen „Supermeat“ beteiligt. Das Start-up gewinnt Zellen aus Hühnereiern und züchtet daraus Fleisch.
Vorstandsvorsitzender Wesjohann sagte, es sei „absolut denkbar“, dass er eine entsprechende Fabrik für „Cultivated Meat“ in Deutschland eröffnet, sollte eine Ausweitung der Produktion möglich sein. „Wir sind in Israel auch an einem Unternehmen beteiligt, das im 3-D-Druck aktiv ist. Ich kann mir durchaus vorstellen, dass in der Fleischproduktion der Zukunft das Steak von so einem Gerät quasi ausgedruckt wird.“
Noch sei allerdings nicht klar, wann das Cultivated Meat marktreif sei und ausgedruckt wird. „Aber es wird kommen, und das sicher schneller, als wir denken.“ Europa müsse aufpassen, bei dieser technologischen Entwicklung nicht den Anschluss zu verlieren, weil die Bürokratie im Wege steht. „Da sollte die Bundesregierung auf EU-Ebene Druck machen“, so Wesjohann.
